1066 - The last Anglo-Saxon monarch of England, Harold II Godwinson, was crowned after being selected by the Witan (council of nobles) following the death of Edward the Confessor the previous day.



1327 - The English Parliament voted to depose King Edward II of England. He would subsequently be found dead of unknown causes, with his wife Isabelle and her

lover Roger Mortimer among the chief suspects. The young Edward III became king, with his mother and Roger Mortimer as regents.



1412 - Joan of Arc was born at Domremy in the Duchy of Bar, Kingdom of France, according to a letter by Lord Perceval de Boullainvilliers.



1463 - During England's "Wars of the Roses", Alnwick Castle was taken by Yorkists after Lord Robert Hungerford withdrew, leaving only a small remaining garrison

which quickly surrendered to a Yorkist army led by the Earl of Kent, Lord Scales and the Earl of Worcester.
