475 - Byzantine Emperor Flavius Zeno fled from Constantinople to Isauria to escape a plot against him initiated by his mother-in-law and several of

his generals.



681 – The Twelfth Council of Toledo, consisting of high-ranking clergy in Spain, recognized the laws of King Erwig of the Visigoths over those of his predecessor,

recognized the authority of the Archbishop of Toledo over all bishops appointed by the king, enacted twenty-eight laws against Jews in Spain, revised the

Forum Iudicum, and dealt with a number of religious issues including forbidding Royal nomination of bishops.



1296 - Count Floris V of Holland allied himself with the King of France, switching from his previous alliance with Edward I of England after

the latter began buying wool from Brabant rather than Holland. Floris' decision to switch sides led Edward to ban all trade with Holland and then arrange the

kidnapping of Floris.



1317 - Coronation of King Philippe V of France, after his elder brother Louis died after only two years on the throne and his nephew Jehan died as a five-day-old baby.



1349 – 700 Jews in Basel were burned alive when their homes were set on fire by a mob of citizens who blamed them for the Black Death.



1431 – Joan of Arc's trial began at Rouen, Normandy. English government records state that they summoned the tribunal, whose members were drawn from pro-English

clergy. The judge, Pierre Cauchon, had served on the English Council in Rouen for over a decade before the trial.
