Call for Papers : "New Perspectives in... There will be an online conference, "New Perspectives in Castle Studies", from April 6 - 9, 2021, hosted by the Department of History at Saint Louis University. Castles are among the most recognizable and quintessential of all medieval structures, and among the most thoroughly studied, but new approaches continue to be developed by using new technology and interdisciplinary methods. Papers can include topics such as the following: - New methods for researching the subject - Using computer technology for conducting analysis, e.g. 3D scanning / mapping. - The role of castles in governing / military arrangements. - Analysis of existing scholarship on the subject. Presentations during the conference will include a joint lecture by Professor Robert Lidiard and Professor Oliver Creighton. Submissions should include an abstract of nor more than 250 words.
