| Call for Papers: Mercenaries and Crusa...|
An academic conference "Mercenaries and Crusaders (1202-1480s)" will be held from 22 – 24 June 2022 at the University of Debrecen, Hungary, hosted by

Mercenaries often participated in crusades and also fought on the opposing side, and the period of the crusades overlaps with the rise of mercenary contingents
in Europe. During the Hundred Years War, Sir John Hawkwood and Arnaud de Cervole were alternately recruited for crusading efforts and excommunicated when they
crossed the line into illegal activity.
